When someone asks if a certain object is muktzeh, I immediately think of
the various categories of muktzeh, such as "machmas gufo" or "melachto
l'issur," and I consider whether this item fits any of those categories.
But when the Gemara asks if a certain object is muktzeh, those categories
don't enter into the discussion, because, historically, they had not yet
been devised.

Speaking only for myself, those categories are so basic to my understanding
of muktze that I just can't relate to the gemara's approach to the
question. Same thing for the categories of melacha on Chol Hamoed.

So, to the extent that your use of the word "paradigm" might be similar to
my use of the "category", I would suggest this: I easily understand your
desire to "characteriz[e] Chazal as being consequentialist or
deontological", but don't put that much effort into it. If it helps you
understand the sugya, great; but if it becomes a roadblock, then you have
to accept that you and they are speaking different languages, and just try
to meet them on their own terms.

[Avodah] The Second Aron

I wondered about the logtics of the second Aron Qodesh according to
those who held a second Aron went out in front of the army when at
war.

What do they say was in it? Do they not believe both the second Luchos
and the pieces of the first were in the same place? Was there a Sefer
Torah in it or next to it? Written by who?

And if an Aron can be an Aron without Luchos, why didn't Bayis Sheini
have an empty Aron?

[Avodah] violation results

When the gemara correlates certain violations with certain results, other
than just saying it?s a violation (eg not washing ntilat yadaim resulting
in poverty), is it positing a value judgement on a level of the violation,
existential cause and effect, a rational cause and effect (eg personality
proclivities) or something else?

[Avodah] ???? ??? ?????? ??? ???? ?????? ???? ????

In the lead up to Pesach, I am trying to formulate a thought around the
chastisement of the malachim by Hashem as cited in Sanhedrin 39b: ???? ???
?????? ??? ???? ?????? ???? ????.

The question I have is whether we have brought down any similar incidents
of Hashem raising this same issue when other songs are noted in Tanach, as
examples, Yehoshua 10:12 or Devorah (Shoftim 5), etc.

Thank you,
