i think most understand 'ki im chafatz bah hamelekh venikrrah besheim'
to means called back by Achashverosh to become the queen

the gra understood they were forcibly kept there forever
(neither for the king nor to go home to any commoner)

[Avodah] Asher Nassi YaChaTa

Vayyikra 4:22 - Rashi; Ashrei HaDor SheHaNassi Nosen Leiv LeHavi Chattos Al
Sheggagosoi
It is a 'lucky' community, whose leader is attentive to bringing a Sin
Offering for his inadvertent sin
Kal VeChomer SheMisCharet Al ZedonoSov
He will certainly regret his deliberate violations

What is the KVeChomer
A Nassi forgets it is Shabbos, he writes some Chiddusheu Torah, so he
brings a Sin Offering
It is embarrassing because he is not accorded the camouflage of a regular
fellow whose Chattos is BeMakom HaOlah
The Nassi brings a special Chattos - it is obvious to all that he has sinned
It takes courage because after all there are no witnesses to his
indiscretion
he might just conveniently forget about it.

Now the same Nassi is having a bad day
He is upset with HKBH and CHOOSES to violate Shabbos, Nebech
[Would we be happy to have such a person as our Nassi?
Imagine a Rosh Yeshivah, or at the Kenessiah Gedolah a well respected Rov
publicly admits to ....
or even admits to doing so BeShoggeg]

The Meizid violation is also without witnesses,
but he is not making any public declaration
he is just expressing regret privately
What is the KVeChomer
and why is the community lucky to have such a leader?

Do Chazal mean this community is MORE lucky
than the community that has a leader that does NOT sin?
Nossen Lev I suggested means 'is attentive'
Is that not an unusual perspective?
Why not just omit those two words
Ashrei HaDor SheHaNassi Mevi Chattos Al Sheggagosoi

[Avodah] dmut dyokno

Note to a magid shiur who said that in the workplace one should see dmut
yokno shel rabo and ask his advice:

Just wanted to note that dmut dyokno kpshuto refers to father who might
know his son well and give good advice as well as role modeling. Also, more
senior professionals who?ve actually had to live. the dialectic might be
able to help them as well

Anyone seen a reference to rabo rather than aviv in earlier sources?

[Avodah] A Complete Unknown?

I had the opportunity to take in the Robert Zimmerman/Bob Dylan Movie ?a
complete unknown?. (We can discuss going to movies in general, and those
with music or inappropriate behavior, off-line)

Of course, this experience triggered memories of my misspent youth,
although the readers of the audio round up will know that I from time to
time employ some of the lyrics, which are on point to some very important
concepts. (e.g. wheels still in spin, the old order is rapidly changing and
your sons and daughters are beyond your command.)
The movie got me thinking about the picture painted by the screenwriter of
someone who seemed to be running away from his past and not actually sure
where he was going to (HT-Tambourine man).

I could not help thinking about R?YBS?s presentation of repentance from
fear(myira) versus repentance from love (ahava). Often the former is
associated with trying to cut oneself off totally from their past, whereas
the latter is building on the past, even if it was sinful (haalat hacheit).
The former may mean the sins are forgiven but the latter can turn them into
zchuyot. I?d be interested in knowing how many people who cut themselves
off from their past are successful in their tshuva versus those who try to
build on it. I try to be in the latter group and use those experiences of
my early years to propel me forward when I need a push to overcome my
natural laziness. I?d be interested in others' experiences.
