Re: [Avodah] Deputy Ministers

In?Avodah Digest, Vol 42, Issue 52 dated 29 July, R' Joseph Kaplan wrote:
?>>ISTM that Jay Schachter, in his erudite post about women serving
as ministers and voting in Israel, told only part of the story. Rav Kook's
psak is, indeed, well known. But it was not the only word on that matter
and my understanding is that the National Religious Party has not accepted
it, the Dati Le'umi community does not accept it and, indeed, women in that
community (as well, of course, in the lo dati community and many other
communities) do, indeed vote and serve as ministers and even higher (you
may have heard of Golda Meir).<<?>>>>>?It is true that
the National Religious Party has not accepted Rav Kook's psak about women
serving as ministers and voting in Israel, but how is it relevant that the
Lo Dati community never accepted that psak? Does the Lo Dati community ask
for psak on anything?? How is Golda Meir relevant?? Did she consult daas
Torah before becoming Prime Minister, and did she receive a non-Kookian
psak??For the record,? I am in favor of women voting and also I
would like to see Sivan Rahav-Meir become the second female prime
minister of Israel.? Caroline Glick would be another great choice.? I
believe that Rav Kook would have reversed his psak if he were alive
today, with the changed circumstances that now prevail.
